Always give the container/bag containing the coral a good look over and if the corals health doesn’t seem up to standard let us know ASAP!

IF there are any issues at this stage Royal Reef will need to be contacted with photographic evidence of the issue within 1 hour of arrival. Please provide photos of the coral, container & packaging to give us the best chance of establishing what has gone wrong.

For our DOA (Dead on Arrival) policy

Acclimation

First job, get your container/bag containing the coral floating in your aquarium. 15 minutes at this stage should be plenty to get the coral to match your aquarium temperature. Make sure this is in a low flow area. (You don’t want the pot or bag bouncing around your display!)

Now its time to get some fresh oxygenated water in with the coral, tip out around 20% of the water from the container/bag and replace with fresh water from your tank. Then every 5 minutes repeat this process 3 or 4 times which should mean its now mostly in your tank water not the water it travelled in.

Dipping

Here at Royal Reef we are strong believers that dipping is a MUST for every coral. We do everything possible to make sure all our corals are pest free but as you can imagine some critters still manage to hang on! We strongly advise that at the stage your coral is now acclimatised you make the effort to dip your coral following the instructions on the dip of your choice.

Please check the dip you are using is suitable for the coral you are dipping and you follow instructions precisely as we can no longer take responsibility for anything that happens at this stage.

(Don’t forget to rinse your coral in fresh tank water after dipping)

Tank placement

The exciting bit is here! Time to get it in your aquarium. There are a few important things to point out at this stage, make sure you place your coral low-middle area of your aquarium to give it chance to get use the lighting and flow in your aquarium. Do your research, what does the coral you have bought like? High flow/Low Flow? High Light/Low Light? We would always advise using a small frag rack, or coral holder as this allows you to gradually move the coral up over a period of 1-2 weeks towards its final position.

Now its time to enjoy your coral.

We have an ever-changing healthy stock of corals so watch out for any updates on social media, give us a follow or why not subscribe to our website!

From all the team at Royal Reef thank you.
