What are the lighting and water flow requirements for plating montipora UK corals?

Plating and encrusting Montipora species require moderate to high lighting and medium to strong water movement to thrive and maintain their growth patterns.

How difficult are these corals to care for compared to other SPS?

These corals have an easy to moderate care difficulty for small-polyp stony corals, making them a great choice for adding architectural depth to your reef.

How do plating Montipora grow in the aquarium?

They form dramatic, swirling shelves and thin plates that extend outward from rockwork. This growth habit creates natural tiers and ledges that maximize space and provide overhangs for marine fish.

What do I need to provide to ensure my Montipora corals grow healthy plates?

Because they construct brittle skeletons, these corals efficiently absorb calcium and carbonate minerals from the water column to build their signature multi-tiered shelves.
